Shane Long and family will be holidaying in Tipperary after the Euros
Home is where the heart is for Shane Long.
The Republic of Ireland striker and his family will be marking their summer holiday with an annual trip to Long's native Gortnahoe village in Co Tipperary for some low-key Rn'R.
Kayleah Long, who is expecting her third child with her husband of three years, said she's looking forward to some downtime with their family in Ireland in July.
"When he finishes, Shane has two to three weeks off. We’ll holiday in Tipperary to see the family. Shane likes to go back home. We didn’t get to see them last year, so it’s nice to catch up with friends and family," she told Independent.ie.
Like most mothers with young children - Teigen (six) and Erin (two) - the former model said they're keen to avoid a long-haul flight and will be opting for a sunny climate closer to home.
"We’ll stay local – maybe somewhere like Portugal where it’s easy to get to," she added.
"Erin is full on at the moment, so we’ll aim for 10 days somewhere with a flight that’s only two to three hours. But who knows what will happen,"
While Shane has been in France for the last four weeks with the rest of the Ireland squad, Kayleah said he FaceTimes his family every day to catch up with his daughters.
"He FaceTimes with the girls – Teigen is six so she knows Daddy is away and asks when is Daddy coming home, so we FaceTime every day so the girls can see him.
The mother-of-two flew to France on Saturday with her parents, but said she didn't have the opportunity to see her partner of 10 years. "It’s quite sad we’re in the same country and something like three miles apart, but he needs to focus on the game and get his head in the right place."
And she said she still gets the same nerves when she sees her other half on the pitch as she did the first time.
"I get a mix of nerves and excitement before a game. I can’t even drink to settle my nerves," the expectant mum laughed, adding she's "feeling a lot better" than she was in her first trimester.
