She should be the most self-assured young lady in Hollywood. However, Saoirse Ronan has admitted that she found it easier to deal with the limelight when she was younger.

"When I was a kid, it felt - not in a big-headed way - but it felt like it was so easy," the 21-year-old said in her latest interview.

"The older I get, the more insecurities start to take hold of you. I won't be able to do it quite as easily as when I was younger."

Saoirse - who was nominated for an Oscar for Atonement when she was only 13 - has grown up in the spotlight.

She has gained many famous admirers, including Helen Mirren - who has backed her to take the Best Actress award at Sunday's Oscars.

However, the Carlow actress admitted she struggles with the pressure that the nomination places on her young shoulders.

"That's the worst thing for me. I'm a huge worrier as well. The thing that I would worry about after being nominated again is, 'How do I keep that up?' Not in relation to awards, but keeping up performances," she said.

Saoirse was speaking to fellow actress Jodie Foster as part of a series of cover shoots for Interview Magazine's March issue.

The pair bonded over their similar Hollywood childhoods. "I'm really close to my mom as well, and she came away with me up until I was 19," said Saoirse of her time away from home on shoots.

"I'm a baby, but she always comes over for the first week to help me settle in. It's really important." Having moved out of home and set up in her own place two years ago, Saoirse said the whole thing was a big learning curve.

"It was something I needed and wanted to do. I wanted to leave Ireland and have anonymity while I was young so I could be stupid and relaxed, I suppose," she said.

"So I lived on my own and got used to paying bills every month and washing dishes and not leaving them in the sink for five days."

Known for her laid-back approach to style, Saoirse smoulders in the edgy magazine shoot, which sees her in a skin-tight Dior dress and with her hair and skin drenched in water.

She has been killing it on the red carpet during awards season, with Burberry a favourite of hers.
