Ryan Reynolds' heartbreak as childhood best friend tried to sell baby photos of daughter James
She might be nine months old, but we still have yet to see a photo of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's daughter.
The fiercely private couple, who welcomed their first child together, a little girl called James last December, have protected her from the spotlight as much as possible - sharing only two select snaps of her hands and feet on Instagram.
And in a new interview, Ryan (38) revealed that one of his oldest friends was keen to profit off their privacy and sell personal photos of the then-newborn to US tabloids.
Speaking to GQ, the Deadpool actor said: "A guy that I’d known for my whole life, one of my closest friends growing up, he had been shopping pictures of my baby around," he told GQ. "I kind of got in front of it, which is good. But it was a slightly dark period. A bad couple of weeks."
"[It was] somebody I’ve known, who’s been one of my closest friends, for 25 years," he explained. "It was like a death. It was like one of those devastating things to find out."
"It was a pretty strongly worded conversation. "[He did it] just for money. I mean, I don’t think he thought he would ever be caught. But it’s a pretty narrow group of people that I would send photos like that to. They’re just, like, my closest family and my closest friends: ‘Here’s us in the delivery room!'"
Ryan and Blake (28) were alerted to his unnamed friend's actions early one and stopped it before they could be sold and said they'll never forgive them for their actions.
"There isn’t really a conversation to have. It’s just, ‘Oh, well, now I’m never going to see you or talk to you again, unfortunately.’ That’s kind of how it worked out," he said.
The couple, who met on the set of the Green Lantern in 2010, wed in a top secret ceremony in 2012.
