"Kate has been a huge fan of Adele since her first album 19 and decided to reach out to her after 25 was released," an insider told heat magazine.
"She asked her personal assistance to contact Adele's management team in the hope she'd be available for a private performance to celebrate Kate's birthday. Kate isn't into big birthdays, but is having a small soiree for close family and friends and is desperate to have Adele sing an acoustic version of her new material, plus a few of her old hits."
Adele is said to be "honoured" to be asked and is changing her schedule to accommodate the request. She has also made no secret of her desire to spend time with Britain's royal family.
"I'd love a night out with Prince Harry, he seems like a right laugh. I love Kate Middleton, she's brilliant. And I love William."
It's not the first time the young royals have been treated to VIP performances by stars - Ellie Goulding sang Your Song for their first dance at their 2011 wedding and Prince William sang with Taylor Swift and Jon Bon Jovi at a charity gala in 2013.
With a family of multi-millionaire party planners at her disposal, the Duchess' birthday bash is shaping up to be a memorable one.
