RTE presenter Sinead Kennedy is still in her “honeymoon bubble” a year after marrying naval officer Conor Kirwan.
The couple had a long-distance romance for years as Conor was serving on the LE Emer in Cork.
He has now moved to a new posting in Newbridge, and Sinead is loving living under the same roof.
“I’m incredibly proud of Conor,” she said. “They did a family and friends day recently on his ship and I was like, ‘That’s my hubby’.
“If he ever had to travel with work I would completely support it – we’re both very encouraging of each other.
“We got through so many years not seeing each other that we can get through anything now.”
Sinead (31) said she’s loving the “small things” about being married, such as simply having meals together.
“I’m delighted with life,” she said. “It’s so different now. We missed out on a lot of that time together for years, and small things like sitting down and having dinner together and chatting in the evenings are really lovely.
“We’re in our little honeymoon bubble – come back to me in a year.”
While they couple are finally living together, they’ll both be heading to their own families for Christmas.
“I stay with Conor on Christmas Eve and then travel to Cork that night,” she told the RTE Guide.
“I think everyone thought it would change, but I wouldn’t expect him to leave his family and vice-versa.
“When there’s kids involved you probably have to adjust your plans, but that’s not really on the agenda right now.”
