RTE star Maura Derrane soaks up the sun on family holiday in Sardinia
As we eagerly await the arrival of summer sun in Ireland, Maura Derrane is soaking up the rising temperatures in Sardinia.
The RTE presenter has been taking a break from work on the Italian island with her two-year-old son Cal.
In a photo posted to social media, Maura beams in a monochrome swimsuit while holding the youngster.
"Fun times with my baby bear," reads the caption.
The Today host welcomed her first child in May 2014 at 43-years-old with Fine Gael TD husband John Deasy.
After welcoming Cal, Maura skipped taking the full-term of maternity leave and returned to work four months later.
"Each to their own but I went back to work when he was four months, which I still think was the best idea ever because it meant that I got back into things pretty quickly," she previously told Mothers and Babies magazine.
Now entering its sixth year, the Today slot with co-host Daithí Ó Sé is the longest time Maura's spent in one presenting role.
"I always say that these shows get about six, seven or eight years," she told the Irish Independent last year.
"Everything has a natural cycle and when something ends after a number of years then it's right that it does. I know I'll just go on to something else. Would I go back to news? I don't know. Would I ever go down the documentary route? Maybe. But what I do now is a lovely mix. So if I get another couple of years out of a show like this then, yahoo!"
