The entertainment firm owned by Ireland's most successful young actress, Saoirse Ronan, recorded profits of €111,677 in its first year in business.

Ronan - who only celebrated her 21st birthday in April - first came to international prominence as a 12-year-old when she was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in 'Atonement'.

Later this year, the Carlow woman's meteoric rise will hit new heights when the Nick Hornby-scripted movie of the Colm Tóibín novel 'Brooklyn' hits our cinema screens.

Ronan plays the lead role of young Irish immigrant Eilis Lacey in the drama that also stars Domhnall Gleeson.

Shortly after the November release of 'Brooklyn', Ronan will be busy preparing for her February 2016 Broadway debut where she will play the role of Abigail Williams in a production of Arthur Miller's 'The Crucible'.

Now, new accounts show that Ronan's Slaney Productions Ltd recorded profits of €111,677 in its first year in operation.

Ronan is the owner of the firm and at the end of last year the company had a cash pile of €36,628 and was owed €162,224 by debtors.

In 2013, Ronan paid €334,000 for a house in Howth, Co Dublin.
