X Factor winner Sam Bailey has asked her former mentor Sharon Osbourne to be the godmother to her unborn child.

The 36-year-old ex prison officer announced last week that she is pregnant with her third child.

Superstar judge Sharon replied on Twitter, announcing that she would be honoured to be the baby's godmother.

''I would be honored to be your baby's Godmother!,'' she tweeted to Sam's account.

Three months after winning the hit ITV show, Sam is said to still be in touch with her famous mentor.

The rising star broke the news of her pregnancy in the run-up to the release of her debut album and tour.

She posted a photo of her scan to her Twitter page, stating, “Hey everyone…… Meet peanut!!! :-).”

The singer is currently busy working on the X Factor tour but her forthcoming solo tour has had to be rescheduled after she discovered the news.

"I was really upset because I thought I'd let everyone at my management and the record label down," she told The Sun.

"But they were really good about it. I was going to go on tour solo at the end of October - but I have managed to move it until January."

She recently told OK! magazine, "I've had a bit of negativity... Just a few people on Twitter saying, 'Your career's going to be over' or 'That's your career down the pan'."

She added, "I'm always going to be working no matter what. I'm living proof you can do it, whether you're pregnant or have kids already."

Sam, whose album is due out later this month, already has two children - Brook, eight, and Tommy, five.

The singer discovered she was pregnant in a supermarket toilet after rushing to get a test.
