Pippa Middleton beams in blush pink semi-sheer dress as she joins brother James at Wimbledon
Pippa Middleton has made her return to Wimbledon and already redeemed herself from her fashion faux pas in Ireland at the weekend.
Last weekend, the normally impeccably dressed party planner was in Co Cork to attend the nuptials of Edinburgh University classmate Camilla Campion-Awwad and raised eyebrows with her green satin dress and mismatched hat.
But it was back to her usual attire as she enjoyed the Middleton family's annual tradition of attending Wimbledon, this time leaving her husband of one month James Matthews at home, while bringing her brother James (30) as her date.
And despite her wealth and international fame, Pippa proved she's just as basic as the rest of us, choosing a semi-sheer, lace dress by cult brand Self Portrait, preferred by wannabe Insta-stars around the world.
The Guipure lace midi dress retails for €485 and is remarkably similar to the Self Portrait dress her royal pal Princess Beatrice wore to the V&A Museum's summer party and suffered a see-through wardrobe malfunction. Like Michael Kors bags before it, Self Portrait is still enjoying a major moment and will likely enjoy its success after Pippa's endoresement.
It made for a refreshing change from her matronly choice of ensemble by British designer Alice Archer at Saturday's wedding, where she and hre husband James, who wed in a €300,000 ceremony in England in May, surprised even their hotel by checking in as their room had been booked under a pseudonym.
Eccles Hotel manager Aileen Hanley said the newlyweds couldn't have been any nicer. "We were very blessed to have them down to visit us, it was absolutely fantastic," she said.
It marks the second high profile wedding Pippa has attended since exchanging vows with her other half of a year and a half near her family home in Berkshire with a royal guestlist including Kate and Beatrice, as well as her brother-in-law Prince William and Prince Harry.
The Middletons have made no secret of their love of tennis, with Kate recently revealing she used to queue for hours to be in with a chance of getting tickets and these days, they enjoy an unparalleled view from the royal box at centre court.
What a difference a few years makes.
