Jennifer Lawrence is famed and loved for her candid wit and humour. Unfortunately, that sense of humour has landed her in serious hot water.
A recent bad-taste joke made by the actress has ignited anger across social media and news sites.
At an exclusive party hosted by Vanity Fair and Armani, Jennifer was overheard approaching Academy Award winning director Alfonso Cuarón saying: “I broke out my rape scream for you!”
According to an eyewitness, J-Law was so excited to see the Gravity director that she grabbed him and starting screaming like a crazed fan in his face.
Apparently the director was flattered with the greeting from the Hunger Games actress.
The rest of the world, however, has not taken the situation lightheartedly and many people are outraged at her blasé reference to such a serious topic.
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton commented, "We're sure she thought that what was said at the party was private, but even still, that's no excuse for a rape joke!! They're not funny, ever."
Jennifer, who does not have a Twitter account, has yet to comment or publicly apologise on the matter.
The 23 year old Oscar winner is currently in Cannes promoting Mockingjay Part 1.
She made headlines earlier this week when she entered the same A-list party and demanded to meet Justin Bieber.
