Olympic diver Tom Daley admits to 'cybersex' with fan during 'relationship break' from fiancé
Olympic medallist Tom Daley has admitted he had an online tryst with a fan during a relationship break from his fiancé Dustin Lance Black.
The 22-year-old diver, who won a bronze medal in London 2012 and Rio 2016, revealed he and his 42-year-old other half took a "break" for seven months due to the gruelling demands of their careers keeping them apart.
Footage of Daley stripping online was leaked to the media, which prompted him to open up about his activity. He emphasises it all took place online and he never met anyone in person.
"It was the distance. It’s not like I actually met up with anyone," he told The Sun.
"I’m 22 years old, and if you talk to someone through social media it is what it is. It was nothing more than that. We never physically met.
"But in the modern world this is what can happen — things are more accessible online, and distributed, and they spread like wildfire."
The couple reconciled and the wedding is back on, now that they "don't have secrets in our relationship".
"We’re honest and open about everything. When we were back together I told him everything," he explained.
"Lance and I had a period of time apart, and then coming back together and realising we’re meant for each other.
"We’re soulmates — and the only way that we were going to get back to that point was to be honest, open and share everything that happened in our time away from each other."
Daley announced his engagement to Black after a three-year romance in October 2015.
The footage of him was reportedly shot in February 2016 and was the start of an apparent 11-month conversation, in which Daley gave the fan his mobile number and encouraged him to come to London.
"This will absolutely never happen again now that we’re getting married. The date is set, and we’re raring and ready to go for that wedding now," he added.
