The 27-year-old, who recently left Coronation Street, said she's finally learned to ignore negative comments about her appearance.

“I used to get annoyed reading comments saying I’ve got fake teeth," she told the latest issue of Cosmopolitan Body, on which she features on the cover.

"I was bullied about my teeth at school and wore braces for five years to get them straight.

“It’s the same when people say I’m ‘too orange’.

“This is my natural skin; I don’t wear fake tan. I can’t help it: I have Spanish heritage.

“Things like that used to wind me up and I’d think, ‘How can people be so nasty?’

“But since being with Mark [Wright, her fiance], I don’t care what anyone thinks. I just brush it off, I’ve got better things to do… or a Domino’s pizza to order!”

Keegan became engaged to Wright of The Only Way is Essex fame last year, and the pair plan on walking up the aisle next year.

But don't expect her to show off her cleavage on her big day.

“I’ve never really worn anything too boob-y. I’ve always had big boobs and, when I was younger, Mum would say ‘Don’t be shy, embrace it’," she added.

“What I’ve learned over the years – especially being in the public eye – is you have to feel comfortable in an outfit to be confident, otherwise it shows.”

“Maybe people assume I’ve got loads of confidence because I’m on TV but, like any girl, I have good and bad days,” she said.

While photos of her frolicking along the beach in a bikini on holidays might be used as the measuring stick a lot of woman aspire to, she says that even she has hang-ups about swimwear.

“When I go to a busy place on holiday I don’t usually walk around in a bikini," she said. "There are parts of my body I don’t really like and parts I don’t mind. I’d love to be one of those girls who is really body-confident but I’m not.

“I think, deep down, all girls have insecurities when it comes to wearing a bikini.”
