One Direction star Niall Horan is reportedly jetting out to sun-soaked California to spend time with his new flame Selena Gomez.

The Mullingar native is believed to be heading to Palm Springs for a romantic weekend with Justin Bieber’s ex.

The 20-year-old reportedly wants to get to know the former Disney star better as the pair enjoy the early stages of their romance.

The singer recently split from Victoria’s Secrets model Barbara Palvin.

Selena will certainly get to know the One Direction boys better when she joins them on tour in America later this year.

The pop singers are said to be growing close after their recent break-ups with other high profile celebrities.

On Valentine’s weekend, 21-year-old Selena enjoyed a date in Nando’s in London with the boy band member.

The pair were said to have been introduced by mutual friend and fellow pop star Taylor Swift.

Niall expressed an interest in Selena before but she was dating troubled singer Justin at the time.

Selena recently confirmed she spent two weeks in rehab in January, seemingly for emotional issues.

She is thought to have found her split from Justin Bieber hard, with Niall helping her get back on track.

"It's very early days, but they've been in constant contact since she went back to the States. Niall's exactly the kind of guy she needs right now. He's so sweet, a total gentleman and 100 per cent not a player like Justin turned out to be," an insider recently told British magazine Heat.

Selena has previously admitted that being in the public eye has affected her social life.

She doesn't like reading rumours about herself and can't help but be careful when she meets new people.

"The hardest part [is] just trying to find someone that will just love the core person and not anything else around it," she told New York Daily News.
