Newlyweds Claire Byrne and Gerry Scollan look loved-up in Dublin days after their wedding
RTE star Claire Byrne and Gerry Scollan looked the picture of happiness as they were pictured for the first time since their surprise wedding last week.
The popular presenter and IT engineer surprised everyone with their wedding on Friday, where they exchanged vows in West Dublin before celebrating their reception at Angler's Rest, Chapelizod.
The couple, who have been together for five years and have two children together - Patrick (three) and Jane (two) - beamed as they went for a romantic stroll on Dublin's Grafton Street on Monday.
Byrne's vintage style ring was proudly on display as she made her way through the busy crowds with her new husband.
The family are planning a trip to France later this summer, opting instead to travel as a family over splurging on a honeymoon, in keeping with their low-key style.
They held an intimate gathering for their wedding on Friday, inviting select family and friends, including her former Today co-host Maura Derrane and husband John Deasy, Newstalk's Ivan Yates and Chris Donoghue also, as Byrne always said they would.
Before the big day, the Claire Byrne Live host said she had "no time" to plan any over the top celebrations.
"It will be low key, with just family and close friends," she said.
"I have no intention of going shopping for a big wedding dress. Whenever I do it, I'm not going to be in a big gown - I've no time for any of that stuff now, so it'll all be streamlined - the celebrations, the wedding and the dress.
"Simple and easy is my motto at the moment, so we'll keep it all straight-forward."
