Jessica Hayes was crowned Miss Ireland last week and already internet bullies have left comments online insulting her appearance.

Rather than let it bother her, she instead chooses to focus on the positivity surrounding her win.

“I don’t let it faze me. For every one bad comment there are 50 good ones."

“There are some people out there who think its okay to disrespect someone like that but it doesn’t faze me,” she told Independent.ie

The 20-year-old model explained that the comments were in reference to her appearance.

“They called me ugly and things like that.”

Speaking from her home in Cork today, she said this was her first day off since being crowned Miss Ireland last week but she is already looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow.

“It has been a brilliant week. I’ve been so busy and this is the first day I’ve got to relax."

“I’ve been doing photo shoots, interviews, on Xpose... things like that. I actually can’t wait to get back into it tomorrow,” she laughed.

The brunette beauty represented Dublin club Buck Whaleys when she won the competition in Dublin’s Ballsbridge hotel last Saturday night.

It was not the first time that she had taken part in the competition, however. In 2013 she represented her native Cork but felt she wasn’t fully prepared confidence-wise to win.

“I was last year’s Miss Cork representative so I knew more what to expect. I was more prepared and confident this time around."

“I didn’t expect to win. I couldn’t call it. They were such a fantastic group of girls."

Jessica now goes on to represent Ireland at the Miss World competition in London in November.
