The tv  host gave birth to her first child, Florence, just three weeks ago. "Slowly but surely I'm getting back to feeling normal again," she told the Herald.

"She's a really good baby, she loves her grub and her sleep."

While most first-time mums complain about sleepless nights, Jen is unfazed by the change in her routine.

"I haven't felt any demented tiredness yet, and Lau is helping out, so we're getting on just fine," she said.

"I don't have much else to do except look after Florence and we're really enjoying her. I've just been staring at her for weeks now - I just take pictures of her all day."

Although she has adjusted well to motherhood, she admits that small everyday events can seem exciting now.

"Myself, Darren [Kennedy] and Florence actually went for coffee the other day which is a big deal - there was great excitement," she said.

"It's the little things that are very exciting like having a shower or having dinner when she is asleep.

"This is kind of the easy stage because they just want to be fed and sleep. It'll be more difficult when she's older."

The 32-year-old has just returned to our screens with The Unemployables, which airs on Thursdays at 9pm on RTE2.

She said it's often easy for people to dismiss people who are unemployed, and this show has changed her perspective on those on the dole.

"It isn't about them being lazy sods it can be a confidence thing," she said.
