'My mum’s actually pretty cool – I’d prefer to go out with her than almost anybody else' - Eve Hewson on Ali
Eve Hewson has revealed her parents are "way more fun" than her.
The 24-year-old actress daughter of U2 frontman Bono and designer Ali Hewson is currently riding a wave of success thanks to stints in TV series The Knick opposite Clive Owen and Steven Spielberg's new film Bridge of Spies.
In an interview with The Telegraph, she jokes about her parents moving to New York at the same time as she started studying at the Tisch School of the Arts, "I didn't invite them; they just came!"
Although her parents and two younger brothers lived in a penthouse overlooking Central Park, Eve lived in shared student accommodation, although their paths did cross at times, not least when she went home for "real food".
She also reveals that she went to a party once only to find her mother was already there.
"I was like, “Urgh, I’m trying to live my life in New York and my mother’s here,”’ she said. "But my mum’s actually pretty cool – I’d prefer to go out with her than almost anybody else.’"
She also had high praise for her dad.
"My dad said he figured out that in order to have a good relationship with your kids, you have to be more fun than them. And it’s true," she says.
"My parents are way more fun than me and my siblings. We’re always like, 'What restaurant are you going to? Whose party is that? Can we hang out with your friends?'"
The Knick kicks off a second series on Sky Atlantic in January while Bridge of Spies is scheduled for release on November 27.
