One of Ireland's top models, Lynn Kelly, has proven that she has both beauty and brains in spades as she has returned to study.

The former Miss Universe Ireland (26) is juggling her full-time modelling job with studying for a degree in sports and nutrition in DCU, and said she can see herself working in the fitness field when she hangs up her modelling boots.

"I have to be smart about things because I'm not going to model forever, so it's good to have [a degree], especially when I have the interest in it," she told the Herald.

"It's definitely an avenue I think I will go down in the future, but I've nothing set in stone at the minute."

Although she's a fitness fanatic, Lynn admitted the main reason she works out so much is because of her job.

"I kind of have to be passionate about fitness," she said.

"I've had to learn to love it."

The Assets model faced a social media backlash late last year when she was branded "too skinny" after sharing a picture on Instagram.

However, Lynn brushed off the criticism.

"I took the pictures mid-show and I think it's been blown out of proportion," she said.

"That's kind of part and parcel of social media."
