Mischa Barton 'heartbroken' over suing Irish mother Nuala for exploitation
Mischa Barton is reportedly “heartbroken” after suing her mother.
The former The O.C. actress filed a case against her mom Nuala this Tuesday, claiming the matriarch took a majority of the salary she earned from acting in horror movie The Hoarder.
Nuala also serves as Mischa’s professional manager and it’s claimed the whole court case is tremendously sad for all parties.
"She is heartbroken by this, and she didn't want to do it. She hates the attention, but she didn't have a choice," a source told People magazine.
The feud with her mother apparently escalated over a $7.8 million property in Beverly Hills the 29-year-old owns, which is said to also be in her mother’s name.
An insider informed the outlet Mischa had been mulling over whether to sue for quite some time, but made the final decision to go forward with a court case when Nuala locked her out of the multi-million dollar home in question.
"When she said to her mom, 'I'm going to have to sue you for the rights to what I own,' her mom said, 'Fine, get out of the house. You will never sue us,' " the source detailed. "This was two years ago. And [Mischa] got the point where she said, 'I don't care.' "
It’s believed Mischa’s relationship with Nuala has been incredibly tense for a while now.
The Homecoming actress is supposedly ready to break out on her own professionally and monetarily.
"Her relationship with her mother has been strained for years," the source said. "And Mischa has reached a point in her life where she is able to finally to take full control of her career and the financial freedom she deserves."
