The fashion designer has been dating the half-brother of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, 17 years her senior.
According to US Weekly, sources close to the 27-year-old have confirmed that the couple are now engaged.
Mary-Kate and Olivier started dating in 2012 and despite the 17-year age gap, their relationship has gone from strength to strength.
Olivier, 44, a banker, is the half-brother of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy.
While this will be the first marriage for former child star Mary-Kate, it would be the second for Olivier, who has two children, Julien, 12, and Margo, ten, from his first union.
“Mary-Kate has made him a better father. She remembers all the kids' special events," a source previously told the publication of the husband and wife-to-be. "She thinks he's a great dad."
While Mary-Kate, who has a number of fashion lines with her twin sister Ashley, has taken to Olivier’s family, her relatives have also embraced Olivier.
"Mary-Kate's family thinks Olivier is the best thing to happen to her," an insider told the magazine. "They love him."
Mary-Kate isn’t the only Olsen to be in love with an older man.
Sister Ashley has recently been spotted spending time with Moneyball director Bennett Miller, who is 20 years her senior.
"They were introduced and have started dating," a source explained to US Weekly recently.
“Ashley spent time in Los Angeles with her new man back in January, where he's been editing his latest film, Foxcatcher.”
The couple were also spotting dining together at Dan Tana's in West Hollywood on January 24.
