Mick Jagger's new girlfriend 'called in sick' to be with the Rolling Stone
Mick Jagger's new romantic interest, an American ballerina 43-years his junior, is reportedly in trouble after calling in sick to be with the Rolling Stone
An American ballerina said to be Mick Jagger's new girlfriend has reportedly angered her bosses by calling in sick to fly to be with the band.
Melanie Hamrick, 27, is part of the corps de ballet for the American Ballet Theatre, based on Broadway.
But at the beginning of this month she was spotted on the balcony of Sir Mick's hotel in Zurich, when the 70-year-old was in the city for a Rolling Stones concert.
"Calling in sick is a real no-no. It's unprofessional," a source told The New York Post. "This is not going to help her career."
The photos of the couple were taken in early June, when Miss Hamrick was preparing for her role in Cinderella. The ballet opened at the Metropolitan Opera House on June 9.
The newspaper claimed that no one in the dance company's management knew the dark-haired ballerina was dating Jagger until photos of the couple on a hotel balcony were published around the world.
Sir Mick's girlfriend of over a decade, L'Wren Scott, committed suicide in March at the age of 49.
He met Miss Hamrick backstage at a Stones concert in Japan two weeks before Scott's death, when a group of dancers from the American Ballet Theatre were allowed backstage at the Rolling Stone's sell-out concert in Tokyo's Dome stadium to be introduced to the band.
They then met up again in New York, before Miss Hamrick flew to Switzerland.
The New York Post reported that Miss Hamrick's previous boyfriend was Cuban dancer José Carreño, 46, who she met as a teenage contestant in the Youth America Grand Prix.
"They were an item … until they broke off their engagement," a source said. "He's been married three times and wouldn't marry her."
