Golf champion Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll seemed to confirm those engagement rumours last night when they stepped out at The Paddy Wallace Fund for Autism Ball in Belfast.

Ms Knoll showed off an impressive sparkling diamond ring on her engagement finger as she posed for the cameras.

Rory (26) reportedly got down on bended knee and popped the question during a recent trip to Paris.

He was previously engaged to Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki but called things off a few months before their New York wedding after getting cold feet.

He was first spotted with Stoll nearly a year ago, with the pair ringing in the New Year in style at Ashford Castle last year.

Since then, she has become a regular sight on the side lines of the course as she shows her support for her other half.
