Mariah Carey 'is engaged' to Australian billionaire boyfriend James Packer
Mariah Carey is set to walk down the aisle again after her billionaire boyfriend James Packer popped the question on Thursday night.
"The happy couple got engaged tonight," Mariah's representative confirmed on Thursday.
The Australian businessman was reported to have proposed to the star in New York after rounding up some of the star's closest friends to witness the special moment.
According to E! Online he presented the singer with "what can only be described as the most breathtaking engagement ring".
Mariah has been dating the Australian business mogul since the summer and the pair spent Christmas with her twins, Monroe and Moroccan.
The music icon split from the twins' father, rapper/actor Nick Cannon, in 2014 after eight years of marriage.
She was also married to music executive Tommy Mottola from 1993 until 1995.
James Packer is an Australian billionaire with a net worth of US$4.7 million (€4.34 million) by Forbes' estimates and is the world's 208th richest person.
Mr Packer - who used to be a close friend of Tom Cruise and studied scientology - comes with a media legacy set by his father Kerry Packer and his grandfather Sir Frank Packer, who formed Consolidated Press Holdings Ltd. in 1936.
After his father died, Packer chose to step away from the media business and focus on casinos and established Crown Resorts, Australia's largest entertainment and gambling corporation.
Packer has also been married twice, to model Jodhi Meares and model and singer Erica Baxter, and has three children with Baxter.
