Lucy Kennedy has insisted her husband won't be following her into the spotlight.

The bubbly presenter insisted the pair will never be TV's next power couple as Richard Governey is too "shy" to step in front of the camera.

Lucy admitted she and Richard are total opposites, but reckons that's why their relationship works so well.

"Absolutely, he would not. He is the opposite of me. He is shy, calm and completely normal. He's extremely funny and it's one of the reasons why I fell in love with him," she told the Diary.

"He makes me laugh more than anybody else but TV is just not his thing. We are the perfect balance for each other."

Lucy, who is mum to Jack (six) and Holly (four), is pregnant with her third child and the whole family are counting down the days until the bundle of joy arrives.

"I'll be heading off on maternity leave on December 8 I'd say. I'll stay on the Seven O'Clock show right until then. I'm really looking forward to meeting this little baby. I'm really excited.

"Jack is nearly seven and Holly is four-and-a-half, so they are counting the sleeps with me at this stage.

"I think we have about 55 sleeps to go, it's very exciting," she said.

The brunette insisted she and Richard share the parenting duties equally but have not seen much of each other lately with their hectic work schedules.

"We're very 50/50. We've been together 17 years so we know each other inside out.

"He works in the UK a lot so he could be gone Monday to Thursday and I was filming Living With Lucy at the weekend, so we've been like ships passing in the night.

"But we have our weekends back now that his contract in the UK is finished," she said.

The Sandycove woman insisted the couple have never had to work to keep the spark going.

"I always say to people marry your best friend and you can't go wrong. I know I did. It's not a case of keeping the romance alive, it's just alive," she said.

Lucy recently wrapped filming on Living With Lucy with the final episode seeing her stay with comedian Brendan Grace in Co Clare.

"I started off with Shane Long, then Kerry Katona, then Al Porter, then Jedward. Then, I was in Lanzarote with Finbar Furey which was hilarious, leading him around on a camel. The final episode is with Brendan Grace, who I just left the other night. He is an older Al Porter.

"We were in Killaloe and we were also gigging up the North. Myself and the crew fell in love with him and his wife is gorgeous," she said.

Living With Lucy airs Tuesdays at 9.30pm on TV3
