Lana Del Ray to perform at Kimye wedding after engagement snub...while stepbrother Brody boycotts ceremony
Lana Del Rey reportedly “couldn’t say no” to performing at Kanye West’s upcoming wedding.
The 36-year-old rapper is marrying Kim Kardashian this weekend in Europe and it is claimed he shelled out huge amounts of cash to get the singer to perform at the ceremony.
It is claimed when Kanye proposed to Kim last year Lana declined to take part in the event, but this time around she is completely swayed.
“Kanye knew how much Kim loved Lana’s music, which is why he tried to get her to perform at the proposal,” a source told UK newspaper The Mirror.
“So he upped the offer to perform at the wedding and told Lana that it’s his and Kim’s special song and it would mean so much to have her perform it. She couldn’t say no.”
Kanye’s over-the-top proposal at AT&T Park in San Francisco on Kim’s birthday October 21 took place while an orchestral version of Lana’s hit Young & Beautiful blasted over the speakers.
Radar Online previously reported he wanted Lana to sing the track there in person because it is one of Kim’s favourite songs.
“Lana politely declined, and didn’t give any reason for not being able to perform. It was a very firm no from Lana and her camp,” a source told the outlet at the time.
“Kanye did try to push it, but didn’t get anywhere. Kanye decided to hire an orchestra to perform the song for Kim, and he was much happier with how it turned out.”
The song must be extremely special to Kim, as she tweeted about being besotted with it last summer.
“I can’t get this Lana del Rey song out of my head! #youngandbeautiful,” Kim wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Kim's step-brother Brody Jenner, the son of her stepdad Bruce, is snubbing the ceremony after his girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter wasn't invited. Several of his brothers and sisters will be attending and former Olympian Bruce was spotted jetting to Paris yesterday as he is expected to walk Kim down the aisle.
Yesterday it was confirmed the pair had been denied a request to marry at the Palace of Versailles. However, the historic venue will still play a part in the reality TV star and rapper's big day.
"Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have decided to let their guests discover the Château of Versailles during a private surprise tour on Friday, May 23, the eve of their wedding," a statement by the couple and officials at the Louis XIV estate read. "In making this choice, they are contributing to a better understanding and maintaining the exceptional heritage of the castle of Versailles, which is classed a World Heritage site UNESCO."
Among the areas the wedding party will look around include The King's Grand Apartment and the sumptuous gardens which boast lavish fountains.
It's thought Kim and Kanye's wedding is taking place at Forte di Belvedere in Florence which is a 16th century fortress. They are said to have splashed out 300,000 euros on the venue and will have a maximum of 200 people watching them exchange vows. A crane, boxes and crates have been spotted outside the fort.
There remains some confusion about whether the wedding will be filmed by cameras for Kim's TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. She has insisted on Twitter that a crew won't be recording it, and this is said to be the reason why Jay Z and Beyoncé Knowles changed their minds about attending. Jay is even said to have agreed to be best man now.
However, RadarOnline has insisted it will feature on the family's programme.
"There will be at least five cameras present at Kim and Kanye’s wedding ceremony and reception which will air on Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” an insider told the publication.
“Yes, Kim did publicly say that they were keeping the wedding private, but momager, Kris Jenner, was able to persuade the couple to allow cameras to film. The couple will have the final say about how much of the event makes it onto the show.
"Guests will be asked to sign waivers allowing them to be filmed. Beyoncé and Jay Z will NOT be asked to sign the forms, and the crews have been instructed now to film them."
