Lamar Odom has reportedly had his breathing tube removed and been helped out of bed as he continues to make a miraculous recovery following his hospitalisation.

The 35-year-old basketball star was rushed into emergency care on Tuesday last week after he was found unconscious at a brothel in Las Vegas. He is alleged to have suffered a drug overdose, with reports he'd been taking cocaine and a herbal pill which is similar to Viagra.

Lamar was in a coma for three days and initially the outlook was bleak, but he regained consciousness on Friday and is said to have rallied. Sources have told E! News the athlete underwent a swallow test, which means he needed to have his breathing tube taken out, and is also a way for doctors to test neurological function.

It's also claimed Lamar has been helped from his hospital bed for the first time, being moved into a chair. He was able to breathe on his own, with the help of an oxygen mask, during this, which is also a positive sign.

The star's ex-wife Khloé Kardashian rushed to be with him when he was hospitalised on Tuesday and she hasn't left him since. It's claimed his first words after waking from his coma were, "Hey baby," with Lamar thought to have shown signs he was coming around after Khloé told him she loved him.

However, insiders have told E! News that he is still not talking much and instead is communicating with thumbs up and down motions. "(He is) heading in the right direction," a source explained. "This is great progress but there is always the possibility for setbacks."

The details of the star's condition haven't been disclosed as yet, with rumours he suffered a stroke and kidney failure.

Khloé's mother Kris Jenner and sisters Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner have all been with her at hospital. She stayed with Lamar throughout, with her family returning to be with her over the weekend. Kim was one of the first to announce Lamar's prognosis was looking brighter, via an Instagram post which captioned a shot of them together.

It read: "I have faith in you. I believe in the power of prayer and positive energy! Thank you all for your prayers! Lammy- I'm so happy Kendall & I could make you smile today! God is good!"
