Kristen Stewart refuses to smile in case she becomes a ‘sell out’
The actress has never been one to flash the pearly whites.
Twilight star Kristen is a popular and successful actress- one would think she’d have a lot to smile about.
She is also gracing the September cover of Elle magazine, featuring in a supermarket photo shoot shot by noted fashion photographer Michael Thompson.
However, she told her interviewer:
“Now I feel like if I smiled for a paparazzi photo—not that I ever would—that’s exactly what people would be desecrating me for. They’d be like, “Now you’re going to give it up, now you’re a sellout.” like, okay. What do you want? What would you like?”
Despite the fact she was a child star (she appeared in The Panic Room when she was 12 with Jodie Foster) she maintains that fame took her by surprise:
"The day [Twilight] came out there was a picture of me—in the New York Post, I think. I was sitting on my front porch, smoking a pipe with my ex-boyfriend and dog. And I was like, Oh shit, well, I have to be aware of that."
Since the Twilight films ended, she has appeared in more indie dramas such as Camp X-Ray, Clouds Of Sils Maria and Anesthesia. She has been filming sci-fi romantic drama Equals with Nicholas Hoult.
"Never at any point have I sat down and plotted how I should proceed from here on," she said.
"As soon as you start thinking about your career as a trajectory - like, as if you're going to miss out on some wave or momentum - then you're never doing anything for yourself anyway. Then you're truly, actually, specifically working for the public. You're turning yourself into a bag of chips."
The 24-year-old will next appear in ‘Still Alice’ alongside Kate Bosworth, Julianne Moore and Alec Baldwin, due for release in September.
