Kim Kardashian was accused of 'attacking the Pope' by an Argentinian news outlet after they mistranslated one of her tweets.

The reality TV star tweeted 'The Pope is dope' in response to the Papal visit to New York. Kardashian was not alone in her tweet - the hashtag #Popeisdope was trending for hours throughout the Pontiff's visit.

As revealed by the Hollywood Reporter, an uncredited reporter for Argentine website Primicias Ya mis-translated the tweet as "the pope is drugs", writing "it cannot be interpreted as positive".

The headline on the article asked "Did Kim Kardashian attack the Pope?" and defended the Argentine while reminding readers that Kardashian starred in a sex tape.

Kardashian's fans jumped to the star's defense, tweeting "Here in America, 'dope' is something good, extraordinary".

"Inform yourselves before posting nonsense".
