Another day, another Kardashian Kontroversy. This time, it's Khloe who is under fire for sharing an image of herself wearing a niqab and hijab.
The 30-year-old uploaded an Instagram picture of herself wearing the traditional garments that Muslim women use to cover their head and face.
A hijab is worn by most Muslim women while out in public in the presence of men. While Khloe is currently in Dubai, there is no requirement for tourists to wear the traditional attire.
The reality star captioned the image, "Habibi Love" and it wasn't long before the post attracted a large amount of criticism from her millions of fans.
Habibi is the Arabic word for ‘my darling' and many people slammed her ignorance.
Some of the comments read,
“Her caption doesn’t make any sense! P.S. Wearing hijab/niqab is for the pious and pure women of Islam!”
“Women getting killed and beaten up for wearing the niqab, but you keep pretending it’s a fashion accessory, the disrespect.”
“This is disgustingly offensive.”
“This woman should not be the role model of anyone especially not for Muslim women.”
“She’s disregarding a cultural/religious symbol by appealing to her own commercial interest.”
However, Kardashian still got support from loyal fans who maintained that the on-off girlfriend of Muslim rapper French Montana was attempting to be culturally sensitive.
“She [is] not wearing it as a fashion statement. She is in Dubai where it is respectful to cover up! And her boyfriend is a Muslim so she is probably just trying to make a good impression.”
Khloe had previously attracted criticism for wearing a native American headdress at a birthday party thrown for her niece, North West.
