Khloe Kardashian faces backlash over 'ignorant' and 'disrespectful' photo taken in Havana
Khloe Kardashian is facing huge backlash over a photo she posted to Instagram while holidaying in Cuba.
The 31-year-old reality star is in the country with sisters Kim and Kourtney and Kim's husband Kanye West, to film scenes for Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
They have all been charting their trip via social media and Khloe the photo in the capital Havana and it shows her posing in front of a Fidel Castro monument with the word 'Fidel' clearly visible above her.
She posted it on Thursday and has faced a barrage of messages from angry fans, although the image remains on her Instagram account.
“Khloe please take this down!! Do you not see all of the hurt that you have caused? Fidel Castro is one of the worst people in history, posing in front of a wall with his name on it is one of the last things that celebrities who claim to fight for human rights should be doing,” wrote one.
Others branded her 'ignorant' and 'disrespectful' and asked her to take the image down.
“This needs to be taken down. It's offensive. He is a vicious communist dictator. This is not about glamour, she is beautiful and can take a glamorous photo anywhere that doesn't include the name 'Fidel' in huge letters,” another wrote.
Another Cuban fan added, “My family is Cuban and they have suffered because of the Castros. They had no choice but to leave after they took everything from them […] Did she help anyone on her trip? Did she meet the Cuban people suffering? Did she extend a hand and offer help to the kids who go to bed hungry?"
However, other fans were quick to defend Khloe.
One said, "I'm Cuban, born there, and it's just a picture. I don't think it represents the girls beliefs in any way. She probably doesn't even know what it says so what's the big deal? Y'all find any excuse to hate these girls and it's stupid."
