Midday host Elaine Crowley was left red-faced this week when she received an X-rated picture from an "adoring and admiring fan".

But broadcaster Kathryn Thomas has avoided such lewd and crude fan mail as she said she attracts a more refined and "rural gentleman".

According to Kathryn, her suitors are shy and retiring farmers...and their mammies.

"When I used to do Winning Streak I got a lot of fan mail from elderly farmers and maybe some not so elderly ones too. Very eligible ones with a lot of land," she told the Herald.

"I remember one man's mother wrote to me to tell me he had a lot of road frontage.

"I think I attract more rural gentlemen," she added.

While the offer was undoubtedly tempting for the chatty broadcaster, she insisted she's happily loved-up with her boyfriend Padraig McLoughlin, even if he is lacking a bit of acreage.

"I'm happy out where I am right now, even though Padraig has no road frontage," Kathryn said.

Before she reprises her role as presenter of The Voice of Ireland later this year, Kathryn is looking forward to jetting off on holiday with her other half after a hectic summer working at her Pure Results bootcamps, which she is planning on expanding.

"I'm going on holidays to Greece next week so I can't wait, it's the first time I've had a holiday in what feels like years," she explained.

"I was 10 weeks on site with the bootcamps so that took up most of my summer.

"They've been going really well though, there has been great interest and the reaction we've been getting is huge.

"I'm looking at expanding next year and getting a new premises which is exciting."

Although her business idea has proved a success, Kathryn admitted it was no mean feat making it in the cut-throat world of business.

"I take my hat off to anyone in business, but particularly any woman in business who gets themselves out there," she said.

"When I started out I was five steps up the ladder already because I had a public profile, so I could talk about it in magazines, I could get into the banks and even still, trying to get my numbers at the beginning was tough.

"I went out door to door, around to businesses and events and I handed out my leaflets, I took a stand at trade shows, I did everything.

"When you're running your own business you'll do anything to make it a success and get it off the ground," the former No Frontiers host explained.

Growing her business also meant Kathryn lived apart from Padraig for 10 weeks of the summer while she was on location at her camps in Kerry and Cork.

However, she added the separation wasn't an issue for the couple as Padraig was also busy with his new restaurant Catch 22.

"Whenever there was a break with the bootcamp I was in there helping him out with that so it's been a busy year for both of us," Kathryn said.

Thomas admitted being enlisted as resident taste tester at the cafe did thwart her clean-eating habits.

"Now I order the tuna salad - that's the only thing I am tasting these days."

Kathryn was speaking at the launch of #RedAlert with the Irish Heart Foundation, urging women to work towards a healthy lifestyle in prevention against heart disease.
