The songwriter worried that he had broken his neck or back as he "went flying" while leaving the Eurovision stadium in Austria.

After watching last night's first semi-final with Alan and Derek Mooney, Karl took a tumble and ended up in hospital in Vienna.

"We got a scare last night as Karl was rushed to hospital after he slipped on wet concrete stairs at Eurovision," Alan said.

"He has concussion and whiplash. What a night. But he was brilliant. All good now..he's just very sore. It could always have been so much worse."
