TV3's Alan Hughes husband Karl Broderick is now in a neck brace after he slipped on wet concrete steps at the Eurovision Song Contest in Austria and 'went flying'.

Broderick took to Facebook to say he felt like he'd done "3 rounds with McGregor" after the ordeal.

The songwriter worried that he had broken his neck or back as he "went flying" while leaving the Eurovision stadium in Austria.

After watching last night's first semi-final with Alan and Derek Mooney, Karl took a tumble and ended up in hospital in Vienna.

"I was more worried that I smashed my phone screen," Karl said as he praised  Alan Hughes and Derek for their help.

Panto producer Karl is now on three strong painkillers a day.

"We got a scare last night as Karl was rushed to hospital after he slipped on wet concrete stairs at Eurovision," Alan said.

"He has concussion and whiplash. What a night. But he was brilliant. All good now..he's just very sore. It could always have been so much worse."
