Justin Theroux says he 'nearly died' on Bora Bora honeymoon with Jennifer Aniston
Justin Theroux has revealed he had a near-death experience during his honeymoon in Bora Bora with new wife Jennifer Aniston.
The Leftovers star (44) wed the Golden Globe-nominated actress (46) in a surprise ceremony and brought their closest friends on their honeymoon to the South Pacific island.
And they got more than they bargained for during a scuba diving trip.
He was joined by some members of the group for a 10-foot dive and said he couldn't explain to the instructor he had only done it once before as the teacher spoke little English.
"There was no communicating, we could not talk," he said during an appearance on Live with Michael and Kelly. "I was telling him, 'I've only done this once."
Alarm bells went off when they went deeper than he was prepared for and after motioning to the xxx he needed to go up, and was running low on oxygen, he was instructed to keep swimming. Eventually he was connected to an emergency respirator
"Why are we doing that? Why are we doing an emergency when earth is up there," he said, adding that he began "coughing and hacking underwater."
Theroux said he can laugh about the experience now, saying his friend's eyes said: "Oh my God, you're about to die. Your brain goes into a crazy place."
