Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain has only just completed her PhD thesis, but she will launch herself straight back into work this autumn when she begins lecturing at UCD.
For the last three years the 30-year-old has been completing her doctorate in mathematics at Trinity College.
UCD recently confirmed the news of the posting.
"Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain is taking up the position in mathematics education in the School of Mathematical Sciences, College of Science in UCD," a spokesperson for the college's School of Education said.
Her role is lecturing undergraduate science students as part of a five-year BSc and Masters course.
For three years Aoibhinn worked in St Mark's Community School in Tallaght teaching mathematics and science.
In the past week she has shared with her followers on social media the last minute-stress of completing her PhD.
"The torture of the final edit. My head is completely wrecked," she said of finalising her thesis, which she gave up for the role of co-presenting RTE's popular travel programme, Getaways.
"It. Is. In. No fanfare at the academic registry desk but I am delighted!"
Unfortunately, the former Rose of Tralee's celebrations were tempered by the "heartbreak" of her home county Mayo's narrow defeat to Kerry in the replay of the semi-final of the Senior Football Championship on Saturday.
The 30-year-old, who has been dating Ryan Tubridy since 2009, will be returning to our TV screens this autumn hosting RTE's Science Squad.
A rising star at the national broadcaster, multi-talented Aoibhinn has featured in a variety of RTE shows in the past including The Panel, reality series Celebrity Bainisteoir and a presenting role on The Reel Deal, a traditional music programme.
She recently told the Herald how she longed for a return to the airwaves after a successful 10-week stint on RTE Radio One last summer.
"I'd love to do more radio, I really enjoyed Aoibhinn & Company last year and I enjoy that medium immensely," the keen gaelgoir explained.
However, she ruled out any co-presenting ventures with her 2fm anchor partner who she has shared a Monkstown home with since Christmas.
