Last week, around the same time that Jonathan Rhys Meyers' latest film, Damascus Cover was debuting at the Cannes Film Festival, the Cork actor was photographed staggering in a London street, obviously drunk. Dishevelled and dirty, he wore an inside-out anorak and jeans with the flies undone as he went into a local off-licence and bought two bottles of vodka.

The Dublin-born actor appears to have put his relapse earlier this year behind him as he cut a stylish figure with his wife-to-be.

The 38-year-old opted for a fitted low cut denim shirt to pair with his distressed jeans, patent Doc Martens and tan leather bag.

Actress Mara donned a low key outfit of flat shoes and a cotton jersey dress, covering up in a fedora hat and sunglasses.

Jonathan, who has been open about his struggles with alcohol addiction throughout his career, celebrated his birthday with friends in London days earlier.

The star is currently promoting his new movie Stonewall, a highly anticipated film which recounts the 1969 police raid of the Stonewall Inn in New York's Greenwich Village that became one of the defining moments of the gay rights movement.

The film is due to be released in US cinemas in late September, however no Irish release date has been announced yet.
