Johnny McDaid had reason to celebrate this week as his band Snow Patrol were honoured with the Gold Medal of Honorary Patronage from Trinity College's Philosophical Society.
The singer/songwriter recently returned to Ireland in the wake of his split from fiancee Courteney Cox last month after an 18-month engagement.
The Snow Patrol rocker, who originally hails from Derry, has reportedly moved out of Courteney’s Beverly Hills home.
Following his return he joined Kodaline on stage during their gig at Dublin's 3Arena.
The band had flown out to the home Courteney and Johnny shared this summer, where they wrote the song 'Love Will Set You Free' with Johnny and Courteney filmed the accompanying video.
Johnny appeared to be in good spirits as his band accepted the Gold Medal at Trinity College on Friday night. He waved for photographers and posed for snaps outside the college.
Recent guests and speakers at 'the Phil' have included Angela Merkel, John McCain and Helen Mirren.
