The mum-of-two wed Westlife star Kian Egan in Barbados in 2009, but has only recently made the decision to change her name.

In an interview with the pair on Radio One, Ryan Tubridy asked whether the Hollyoaks actress’ surname is Albert or Egan.

“It’s Albert, but it should be Egan,” the 32-year-old responded.

“I think I’m going to have to change it because my four-year-old is really questioning it. I’m feeling the pressure,” she revealed.

“He thinks my surname is elbow!” she said of her son Koa. “So I think I’m going to have to change it.”

The couple have been in a relationship since 2003, and welcomed their second son Zekey in May last year.

Explaining the meaning behind the unusual name, Jodi said:

“I was a week pregnant and I’d recently found out that my mum was going to pass in four months.”

“I kind of got obsessed with the letter Z, for some reason. I just thought it was cool. I just thought if we had a boy it would be cool to spell in with the letter Z ,” she told the RTE presenter during the interview as part of his Wild Atlantic Way Tour.

“Then I started googling names and this name came up that meant ‘God will strengthen.’ It struck a chord with me and it was ‘Zeke.’”

“We thought Zekey would be the way we would pronounce it as it’s softer, and it was a name that went with our other son, Koa, as well,” she added.

The couple are currently living in Kian’s home county, Sligo.
