'It's f***ing terrible just having girls' - Bob Geldof feeling the strain as two of his daughters are set to wed
Bob Geldof can't escape the sound of wedding bells, with two daughters getting married.
The Boomtown Rats frontman wed his partner of 19 years, Jeanne Marine, last October.
Now he is gearing up to take two more trips down the aisle.
Geldof confirmed that daughters Fifi and Pixie will get be getting hitched either side of the new year.
"Fifi and Pixie - they're getting married," he told the Herald. "They're mad for it. It's f***ing terrible just having girls."
Pixie will tie the knot with long-term boyfriend George Barrett next year while Fifi Trixiebelle will marry sand artist and political activist Andy Robertson this autumn.
Asked if he would consider performing at either of his daughters' weddings, Geldof said: "They have great voices, so against them I wouldn't because I'd be embarrassed, but I think a rock 'n' roll kick in the arse is a good thing at a wedding."
Geldof was on hand to present Derry-born Hollywood producer and actress Roma Downey with an Irish Diaspora award at the Iftas.
While he was keen to praise the standard of Irish film, Geldof criticised the distribution of movies such as The Guard and Room.
"I keep hearing it's been a bumper year for Irish film, but the problem is distribution," he said.
"The Guard is one of my favourite films and was in one cinema in London for a week and that's scandalous."
Geldof also spoke about his recent RTE documentary on WB Yeats, saying the response had been "mega".
However, he has no wish to venture into the world of TV and film again.
"I wouldn't do another film. Absolutely not. Getting up at 4am to start shooting? F*** off."
