Kayleah Long has revealed that her newborn son was 'rushed away' at birth on Monday.

Kayleah welcomed her third child with Irish footballer Shane Long on Monday, but has revealed the heartache of having the newborn rushed away at  birth.

In a post on Instagram, Kayleah said the last few days have been "a mixture of emotion" and that baby Jax had taken a "dip."

"Last couple of days have been a mixture of emotion," she wrote.

"From having a new life enter the world and making your family feel complete, to then having him rushed away from you and not knowing what is going on, to him getting stronger and saying 'c u in a couple of days' to your other 2 children and husband, to him then taking a dip which could now mean longer, really has been tough!"

"But today I am stronger than yesterday and smiling to stay strong for my little man Jax."

The former model shared the message alongside an image of a quote which reads: "Smile and let everyone know that today, you're a lot stronger than you were yesterday."

The couple announced in May they were expecting again. Kayleah shared a touching family photo of the new arrival on Instagram with daughters Teigan (six) and Erin (two).

The Irish footballer met Kayleah when they were both teenagers while he was playing for Reading, where she hails from.

The couple exchanged vows in lavish style in 2013, first exchanging vows at St Mary's Parish Church in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow and celebrating into the night at the Ritz Carlton and recently celebrated their third wedding anniversary.
