Irish True Detective 2 star Tim V Murphy set to be a first time dad at the age of 55

It's a case of better late than never for True Detective 2 star Timothy V Murphy, who is set to become a dad for the first time at the age of 55.

The Kerry native, who previously starred in Glenroe, is expecting his first child with his girlfriend, Caitlin Manley.

"I have a steady woman now, which is good, and we're having a child in a couple of weeks," he said.

"I'm a bit of a late starter alright, but sure better late than never though.

"I've got a young woman so she can do all the running around - she's 32. She's Boston Irish, so they're quite similar to us and she's got a good sense of humour," he told Brendan O'Connor on RTE Radio 1.

Timothy is filming a TV series, The Bastard Executioner, in Wales.

"I'll be filming this for the next three months and I'll be heading home for a week to be with Caitlin," he added.
