Rugby star Jamie Heaslip has popped the question to his long-term partner Sheena O'Buachalla.
Heaslip, who is one of the contenders for the vacant captaincy of the Irish rugby team, proposed to Dublin native O'Buachalla over the Christmas holidays.
The couple started dating in 2010, their relationship briefly fizzled out but they rekindled their romance in 2012 and have been a steady item ever since. In 2014, they bought a house together in south Dublin.
Sheena, a marketing executive, is the daughter of millionaires Oisín and Sharon O'Buachalla, major figures in the car industry.
It is not known when the couple will tie the knot.
O'Buachalla and Heaslip are notoriously private, with No.8 Heaslip previously telling the Irish Independent he liked keeping his private life out of the public eye.
"I'm fine talking about rugby, but my private life I like to keep private," he said in 2014. "I don't believe anybody involved in my personal life asked to be talked about, so they don't deserve it," he added.
There have been plenty of festive weddings and engagements taking place in the past few weeks.
Cork GAA legend Seán Óg Ó hAilpín exchanged vows with his partner Siobhan Quirke on New Year's Day.
Kerry footballer Paul Galvin wed Louise Duffy, while Dublin captain Stephen Cluxton and Joanne O'Connor tied the knot in a New Year's ceremony.
Meanwhile, TV presenter Amanda Byram was delighted when her partner Julian Okines proposed over the holidays.
