Caitriona Balfe is earning her place as one of Hollywood's fastest rising stars, both on and off camera.
The former model (35) got her big break last year when she landed the lead role in cult sci-fi series Outlander.
The brunette beauty added a touch of old Hollywood glamour in a deep purple gown with cut-out detail as she took to the red carpet to celebrate the second half of the first season.
Balfe, who grew up in Monaghan, recently opened up about her move from modelling, saying that she always wished she was a child actor.
"I was devastated that I wasn’t a child actor," she told Backstage magazine, explaining her parents wanted her to attend college before embarking on her catwalk career. "My parents felt that I should finish college, but I’m slightly headstrong, so I took their advice and I completely ignored it."
Her first job was in Paris and she spent the next decade travelling the world for her work, which includes modelling in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and countless high fashion designers.
"You’d be amazed how little information or training goes into it,” she added.
"When I first arrived in Paris, I was told to take a bus to the office. I left my suitcase—I barely spoke any French—and someone took me across the street, helped me buy a Carte Orange. They printed out five addresses that I had to go to that day, and then they sent me off.”
