Irish actress Caitriona Balfe on 'world's most beautiful' list
Irish actress Caitriona Balfe has been named as one of the world's most beautiful women.
The striking brunette (35) featured in this year's Most Beautiful issue of US magazine People.
After hearing the good news, Caitriona took to Twitter to thank the mag for the compliment.
"Thank you @people for including me in your #MostBeautiful," the Monaghan native wrote.
"My lanky inner 12 year old is gob-smacked x."
Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock (50) was named as the world's most beautiful woman by the magazine.
Caitriona, who stars in World War Two drama Outlander, recently revealed that she has to watch light-hearted movies in order to wind down after a long day of shooting gruesome scenes.
"I rely on happy films like Manhattan, Breakfast at Tiffany's and A Woman Is A Woman for a pick-me-up," she said.
She added that although the series is known for its steamy scenes, she doesn't believe Outlander objectifies women.
"It's not just about women as objects. So often women are there just to be looked at and be objectified for the titillation of the male audience," she said.
"However, we go and turn that on its head-without, hopefully, objectifying men too much.
"I think it's nice to see the female side of it."
