'I'm well aware of his female fans,' laughs Dublin GAA star Cian O'Sullivan's long-term love Danielle
He’s one of GAA’s hottest hunks, but Cian O’Sullivan’s long-term girlfriend says he’s “just Cian to me”.
The 27-year-old centre back has been dating Danielle Byrne, a PR account manager at Thinkhouse Youth Communications Agency, for eight years and she said that she’s “well aware” of her boyfriend’s female fanbase.
“I am well aware he has quite a few female fans too,” she laughed. “But that comes with the profile. He is a super grounded guy and I knew him long before he was playing for Dublin and nothing has changed for us.
“It is really lovely to see young kids and fans asking for pictures, but it’s funny at the same time because he's just Cian to me.”
This Sunday will mark their third All Ireland Final together and Danielle, who manages clients like Dove and Magnum, will be sticking to tradition by wearing the same jersey as she did the first time around in 2011.
“I have a jersey I wore in 2011 when he won his first All Ireland and I wore it again in 2013, so I guess I'll have to keep up tradition,” she told Independent.ie.
"I'll be going to the game with Cian's family, his parents, two sisters and their partners and I usually travel with his family.
“This will be the third All Ireland Cian has been in and each time we've met in his family home for breakfast and travelled together with a pit stop in the pub en route to calm the nerves!”
Cian’s healthy lifestyle has rubbed off on the former model, who says she’s more conscious of her diet and exercise since moving in with her long-term love.
“I am actually finding myself scooping protein into juices at the moment and I never thought I'd see the day.
“Sometimes when your boyfriend is getting up to go training on a Saturday morning you get motivated to get yourself out of bed...but only sometimes,” she joked.
But how do one of the hottest couples on the GAA scene prepare for All Ireland Sunday?
“I try do all I can in the run up to the game to make his life easier, even if that means doing all the washes, cooking, cleaning.
“He trains pretty hard and works full-time so I try to be around as much as I can in the lead up to a big game. This Saturday we'll be glued to the couch watching Narcos.”
