New Xpose presenter Peter O'Riordan has joked he's putting on all the baby weight his partner Stephanie is losing.

Having just arrived from LA where he spent several years working at TMZ, the presenter is anxious to get in shape before hie appears on camera on TV3's entertainment show.

Writing in the Herald, he says, "I'm used to being on the assignment desk at TMZ, so I'm really going to have to up my game over the next few weeks so I look my best before getting in front of the cameras on Xpose.

"It's going to be a one hour live show, five days a week - so I want to look my best, especially as they say the camera adds 10 pounds.  I need to get going on the treadmill now and to drop a few pounds.  My partner Stephanie has lost weight since she gave birth to our son Olivier and I seem to be putting it on.

"I keep joking that I'm putting on all the weight that she's losing.  I never really bought into the whole fitness craze in LA but I do like to be healthy and I'll really miss hiking and heading to the beach over there.

"I'm not obsessive about it but I do like to eat healthily and work out.  It's a totally different culture in LA but I love that on Irish TV you see real people delivering real stories."

The 30-year-old presenter also revealed that he was on a social media ban for weeks prior to the announcement he would join the Xpose team this week.

"If you ever need to keep a secret, TV3 are the people to do it," he says.

"I had kept in touch while I was in LA and  I was always up on everything that was happening in Rieland so I was delighted when the opportunity came up."

Peter's partner Stephanie and five-month old son Olivier have moved to Dublin too and he reckons it will be an adjustment for Stephanie who is originally from Hawaii.

"She's definitely going to miss the weather but I always say that there's no win if you don't take that risk.

"Ireland is a great place for us to raise our family as well.  LA isn't really conducive to raising a family in my opinion."
