Athlete David Gillick will be sprinting down the aisle this autumn.
The two-time European indoor champion at 400m will marry his long-term girlfriend, Charlotte Wickham, at the end of August.
And there is no backing out, according to the Dublin runner, as the big day approaches.
Golf hero Rory McIlroy recently confirmed that he had ended his engagement to Danish tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki, before they were due to tie the knot at the end of the year.
“It’s all going really well, the invites have gone out so I haven’t done a McIlroy - I’m sticking to it,” Gillick told the Herald.
“We were away at a friend’s wedding in Portugal recently so it’s nice to see what other people are doing.
“There is not long to go now so I am looking forward to it.”
The couple will say I do’ with an intimate wedding bash in Charlotte’s native Newcastle in two month’s time.
They have been dating for five years and Charlotte made the big decision to relocate to the capital when Gillick decided to return home after years of travelling and living abroad.
Gillick, who claimed the European Indoor Championship for 400m in 2005 and 2007, became the first winner of Irish celebrity Masterchef last August and he has been making the most of his success.
“I have a cooking slot on Ireland AM every Thursday so I am enjoying that before I have to make a decision on my future,” he said.
