Bruce revealed the news publicly in an interview with Diane Sawyer in April  and has since transitioned to become Caitlyn.

However, in an interview with Hello! Brody said he knew Bruce had secrets for a long time and that his mother eventually told him what was going on back in 2012.

"You could just tell Bruce had some secrets," he told the magazine. "Obviously I couldn't tell how deep these secrets were, what Bruce was really hiding.

"But when my mother told me about three years ago, I think the first thing I said was,'I need a drink!'

"I think that ultimately in that type of situation you want the person who is going through the struggle to tell you.

"You don't want to bring it up with them, so I waited and it was awesome. I felt very relieved for him when he told me."

Caitlyn has received unwavering support from her children including sons Brody and Brandon, daughters Kendall and Kylie, as well as step-daughters Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe through his marriage to Kris Jenner.

They all showed their support for her as she was awarded with the Arthurty Ash Courage award at the ESPYs recently.

Brody said he has been "blown away" by the response of the public to Caitlyn's transition and says it has been "inspirational" to watch.

Brody has just launched his own show, Sex with Brody Jenner, on E!, the channel which broadcasts his step-sisters' show Keeping Up with the Kardashians as well as Caitlyn's upcoming series I Am Cait.
