Laura Whitmore said she struggled with boys and had "no boobs" when she was growing up.
While the 30-year-old has had a string of rocker boyfriends and is currently seeing Sunset Sons frontman Rory Williams, she wasn't always so confident.
"No one escapes the teenage years without a lot of challenges," she said.
"I had many. I was awkward. Petrified of boys. I was scrawny with no boobs," she added.
While the Bray native is now a resident on the 'best-dressed' lists and has lots of A-list pals, she said she was a "nerd" in school.
"I grew up in a small house with just my mam and felt quite lonely at times," she said.
"I always thought I wasn't cool enough in school, I was in the 'nerd' crew. I actually enjoyed studying."
She now jets around the world interviewing top musicians and covering festivals for MTV, and said the secret to her success was becoming more confident in herself as she got older.
"I think if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will," she told Lust For Life in an interview to promote her new jewellery range for Daisy.
"It's tough as some people may get more opportunities than others but at the end of the day it is 'hard work' that gets you where you want to be and keeps you there," she said.
