Niall Breslin has opened up about the impact a break-up can have on mental health and revealed that he’s had a difficult time following his breakup with Roz Purcell.
The pair split earlier in the summer, and Bressie admitted he’s been channelling his energy into fitness as he trains for Ironman in Copenhagen on Sunday.
“I can openly say that the last few months have been very difficult for me, having gone through a break up and the usual life stresses that inevitably visit every now and again and I have so much pride in myself for how I’ve managed to maintain my focus and headspace during this time,” he wrote in a blog on his website A Lust for Life.
“I can’t say I have been the easiest person to be around but I kept myself together and leaned on the people who no matter what have always been the emotional scaffolding I have needed,” he said.
The Blizzards singer (35) was dating model Roz (25) for four years before they ended their relationship in May.
The pair have said their split was amicable and Bressie admitted that he was frustrated that everyone was “trying to find a reason”.
I found the most difficult part throughout the breakup was people trying to find the reason. The reality was, it's no one's business,” he said.
“The thing with me and Roz...we never used the media, we never put ourselves out there, like other couples may do. And we felt that because of that, we might not feel the full brunt force of [the media intruding]. And they didn’t, there was nothing nasty.
"But it was difficult. As you get older, breakups are hard. They knock you down. I think only now am I getting back on my feet."
