'However it comes! I'll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it' - Morgan Freeman admits to using marijuana for pain relief following accident
Legendary actor Morgan Freeman is calling for the legalisation of marijuana.
The Oscar winning star has been using the drug for pain relief purposes since he received injuries in a car accident in Mississippi in 2008.
The incident left Freeman with shattered bones in his arm, shoulder and elbow, and he has revealed that using marijuana was the only thing that would ease the chronic pain.
Seven years later, he still has no feeling in his left hand and he must wear a compression glove to prevent blood pooling.
The 77-year-old confirmed to The Daily Beast that he is a longtime user of marijuana, after his wife introduced him to the illegal herb.
“They used to say, ‘You smoke that stuff, boy, you get hooked!” he said.
“How do I take it? However it comes! I’ll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it! This movement is really a long time coming, and it’s getting legs—longer legs. Now, the thrust is understanding that alcohol has no real medicinal use. Maybe if you have one drink it’ll quiet you down, but two or three and you’re f*cked.”
Freeman is calling for the legalisation of the drug as he maintains that it has many uses.
“I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana. They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life. That right there, to me, says, ‘Legalize it across the board!’”
